Fri 7th Rock Solid groups are at the fireworks at the Rugby Club tonight – pray for safety and good fun; thank God for all the leaders and for those of RS2 and Explorers

Sat 8th As Bishop Christopher has his farewell service at St. Albans, pray that God would be anointing his successor for the work He has for him in this diocese. Thank God for Bishop Richard and Liz and ask that they would be filled with all they need for their roles here in Bedfordshire.
Thank God also for Simon Burns and ask that the reunion for those on Highway Projects teams this summer would be a blessing to them all; pray that God would be prompting others to go next year

Sun 9th Cry out to God for the healing of the nations and for an end to hatred and bloodshed as we remember those who have died in the service of their country. Pray especially for those for whom this day is painful, with memories of lost or broken lives. Remember too all those serving in the armed forces and their families back home. Thank God for our small groups, especially for the leaders and the time and energy they give to the task. Pray for the Pastorate Leaders as they meet tonight and look at supporting the group leaders as they encourage their members in whole life discipleship.
‘CY we should believe’ is the last part of the CY course. Pray that all attending would realise their need to believe and trust in the Lord Jesus as they Saviour. Pray that too for any of our family members who have not yet accepted Christ

Mon 10th Pray for all those who dread Mondays – because of work or lack of it, school or college, or just because life is so painful. Ask that they would find friends to support them and give them wise counsel through the hard times. Ask for wisdom too as the Finance Committee set the 2009 budget

Tues 11th Ask that those attending lunch club and those who are too frail or sick to attend would know the love God has for them and His delight in them – they are special and of infinite value to Him

Wed 12th As Alpha guests look and how God guides us, thank Him that we have the Bible freely available in this land. Pray for all those in secondary schools who will receive Gideon testaments this term and pray that they open them and discover God speaking to them through His Word. Thank God that Gideons also provide testaments in prison; ask that the Liberator play tonight would speak to all who attend and raise sufficient funds for it to be performed in Bedford Prison tomorrow

Thurs 13th Pray for David Gundry in his role as Chairman of the Highway Projects Board; ask that his presentation to Christian business men and women today would be challenging and encouraging and ask that David would also know God’s blessing as he prepares both for next week’s Board meeting and a talk to Bedford Rotarians. During these difficult financial times how should we respond to requests for financial support from charities? Pray for a willingness to give sacrificially but wisely

Fri 14th Ask that God would bless those at Morning Out as they look at times which are tough as parents. Pray for all those struggling to love their children through hard times.
Pray too for the men’s 5-a-side football tonight, for good conversations and fun

Sat 15th Pray for those attending the Alpha Away Day and ask that God’s Holy Spirit would fall on all who are there today


Sun 16th Today we remember all those who are persecuted for their faith and ask that they and their families would have all the grace and peace they need. What can we do as individuals to encourage and support them? Thank God for the work of MAF and ask that all who hear about this work today would be excited by the ministry and encouraged to support the work prayerfully and practically.
Ellis James is being baptised today – pray for Paul and Donna, that they would have all the wisdom and love they need as parents, and that Ellis would grow up to know and love Jesus.
Pray too for the Newcomers tea; may all who are new to Christ Church feel welcomed and valued

Mon 17th This is Prisons Week – how do we view prisoners? How does Jesus view them?
Pray for Sally White, Bedford’s prison Chaplain and for those who visit prisoners, that they would show the unconditional love that Jesus gave freely. Richard speaks today at Newnham Assembly on how a Biblical person would react to today’s society; ask that he would be inspired in all he says and pray for all the Christian teachers and pupils at the school, that they would be salt and light to their friends.
The Buildings Committee meets today – ask for clarity and wisdom in their decision making

Tues 18th Lift up Tony and Chris Somervell, Alex, Patrick and Ceci; may they rejoice as they see God leading them on

Wed 19th Richard joins other evangelical church leaders locally for prayer this morning; thank God for him and ask that he and Tim would have all the time and clear thinking they need as they prepare for Christmas and all the extra services involved. After the excitement of learning about the Holy Spirit, Alpha attendees today learn how to resist evil; pray for their protection and the realisation that Satan is a force in the world but a defeated one – because of Jesus – Alleluia!

Thurs 20th The Christmas lights will be switched on in town today. Pray that peoples’ minds would be switched on to the true story of Christmas. Ask that we would all use the opportunities we are given to share the joy of knowing Christ came for our salvation. Richard leads a service of prayer for healing tonight; ask God to give Him wisdom as he plans it and joy as we see the Lord at work in peoples’ lives; thank God for all the prayer that takes place at Christ Church and among its members

Fri 21st Thank God for Alan Cottenden and his work on the Imagine Project. Pray for a meeting he has tonight with those whose children are in their twenties, that this meeting, like the one he organised for teachers, will be enjoyable and productive and will help those attending as they discuss the joys and challenges of their roles

 


Sat 22nd Thank God for calling Edwin and Peta to serve Him in the Middle East. Pray for them in all their work encouraging those in medical fields not only in their work but also in their witness to their brothers and sisters in the Arab world. Remember also Rob and Ruth and ask that they would be encouraged in their work and witness today

Sun 23rd Uphold the students at the University of Bedfordshire; ask that we might be a warm and welcoming community to those who join us today, that many may wish to make their spiritual home among us. Pray also for their life and witness among their fellow students who don’t yet know the Lord, and for Tim and Simon as they seek to minister at the Polhill site

Mon 24th Lift those you know who are suffering long term ill health to the Lord. Pray for all those in residential and nursing care, for those coping with unpleasant treatment for serious medical conditions and for those awaiting results of tests

Tues 25th Ask that Andy and Rachel would know God’s delight in their service today; pray that too for Ronnie and Heather Skene and for tomorrow’s Alpha guests, that they will be encouraged to tell others about Jesus – pray that they may have stories to share what He has done in their lives

Wed 26th As a group meets to pray for Castle Lower School, thank God for the opportunities He gives to witness to parents and children; pray for the assembly tomorrow and Richard as he speaks at it

Thurs 27th Tonight the PCC considers how the Imagine Project has been running over the last six months; pray for wisdom as to what should happen next. Thank God for the changes that are taking place in the lives of those at Christ Church and pray that the reality of living our whole lives for God would continue to shape us individually and as a church

Fri 28th Thank God for all the talented musicians and singers we are blessed with at Christ Church. As rehearsals start for Christmas, pray that all will be blessed by their participation and know God’s delight in their service. Who can we invite to Christmas events and tell of the true meaning of Christmas?

Sat 29th Pray for those of working age among us who – by choice or circumstance – are not in paid employment, for all the valuable work they do, often behind the scenes and unnoticed. Ask for wisdom to use their time fruitfully and for assurance that their contributions to the community are in no way diminished because they are not remunerated financially

Sun 30th On this Advent Sunday, as we look back to Christ’s birth and forward to His Second Coming, ask that we would always be ready for when He comes again
